Rich lithium reserve found in central Iran

TEHRAN -- Namak Lake in Qom Province is the reservoir of a large amount of lithium, a recent study has found out.
Researches by the Geological Survey of Iran have found that each ton of the salt mixture sampled out of the lake holds over 200 grams of lithium, the organization’s deputy director said, the Tasnim news agency reported on Wednesday.This is while the chance to extract 40 to 50 grams of lithium from each ton of salt is seen economical worldwide, Behrooz Borna said.
The mineral is used in ceramics and glass, electrical and electronic parts, lubricating greases, metallurgy, medicine, etc.
